I wanted to talk about a spice that many of us may overlook as to having great benefits when taken on a daily basis. For those of you that enjoy cooking, you have a great opportunity to reap the benefits on Turmeric. While it may not go with every dish you cook, there are other ways to take Turmeric.

Turmeric could be one of the most powerful herb in existence for fighting disease & possibly even having reversing effects. Curcumin is a healing compound found in Turmeric.

Turmeric is thought to aid as an:

Anti-depressant
Anti-inflammatory
Diabetes management
Pain killer
Arthritis management
Cholesterol regulator
Gastrointestinal treatment.

On top of these benefits, curcumin has been seen in studies to have anticancer effects & appears to kill cancer cells & prevent more from growing.

The list of benefits goes on & on with Turmeric. Although there are many benefits of turmeric, there may be some side effects so it is always recommended to consult a physician & do your own research on any herb you intend to ingest.

There are some cases where people do experience side effects. As for myself, all herbs I mention in my posts I have not experienced any side effects.

Potential side effects are

Diarrhea
Nausea
Hyperactive gallbladder contractions
Increased menstrual flow
Hypotension
Uterine contractions in pregnant women
Increased risk of bleeding

If you like the flavor of Turmeric, consider adding it to your every day cooking. Add some to your eggs in the morning or spice up your soup & chili. Alternative ways of consuming Turmeric is in pill form, tea or tinctures. I prefer the tincture method for convenience & potency.

Always remember that moderation is key in anything so consuming turmeric on a daily basis in small amounts will help you maintain a healthy level in your body. Simply taking a massive amount in a short period of time is not recommended & may increase the risk of side effects.

There is endless amounts of information on this spice so I recommend doing some research & then jumping on the bandwagon. In today's crazy world, it's important to remember to take care of ourselves & do what we can to better our health & lives.

Do you already take Turmeric? If so, what are you using it for & how long did it take to see results? I'd love to hear from everyone on this.
