German football legend Gerd Muller has died on August 15, 2021. Before he died, he had Alzheimer's. What disease is it? Is it dangerous?

Please note that this disease has been suffering from this legend since 2015. So, is this the reason he died?

It turned out that the cause of his death was not Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, this was not disclosed by the club he used to defend, namely Bayern Munich.

Keep in mind that Alzheimer's is a progressive neurological disorder that causes the brain to shrink and brain cells die. Generally, sufferers will experience a decline in thinking, behaving, and social skills which ultimately affects the ability to function independently.

Usually the initial symptom that is felt is forgetting what has just been said. As it progresses, people with Alzheimer's experience severe memory impairment accompanied by loss of ability to carry out daily activities.

Unfortunately there is no medicine that can cure this disease. The drugs currently available only serve to temporarily improve or slow the symptoms of Alzheimer's.

In more severe conditions, people with Alzheimer's can experience complications from impaired brain function such as dehydration, malnutrition, infection, and even death.
