There is a belief that to eat well you have to spend a lot of money and that is why we do not take the foods that provide more nutrients, but those that come cheaper. 


However, Dr. Mercola suggests that there are cheap and healthy foods. To protect your health," he says, "I advise you to spend 90 percent of your budget on whole foods, and only 10 percent on processed foods.


1. Avocado

It is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats and potassium, which helps maintain a constant heart rate. 

2. Chard

It contains vitamin C, which helps the body heal; vitamin E, which intervenes in the immune system; and vitamin A, which plays an important role in cell functions. It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. 

3. Garlic

"Garlic is rich in manganese, calcium, phosphorus, selenium and vitamins B6 and C, so it is beneficial for the bones, as well as its thyroid. It also has anti-inflammatory and immunological properties. 

4. Germ

The broccoli germ, for example, contains glucorafanin, which "appears to have a protective effect against toxic contaminants, improving the body's ability to remove or excrete contaminants.

5. Mushrooms

They contain ergotionein, an antioxidant only found in mushrooms that "appears to play a very specific role in protecting DNA from oxidative damage. 

6. Curly Kale

"It has been shown to reduce the risk of at least five types of cancer: bladder, breast, colon, ovary and prostate. 

7. Spinach

It is rich in vitamins and minerals, also contains flavonoids, a substance that protects the body from free radicals and, according to Medline Plus, "have been shown to protect against cancer.

It has properties similar to those of kale, but also "helps to reduce oxidative stress in cells. It also contains phytonutrients that help fight breast cancer. 

9. Tomato

This vegetable contains lycopene, which is suggested "may significantly reduce the risk of stroke and cancer. 

10. Cauliflower

It is rich in fiber, which benefits the digestion process. On the other hand, it also contains vitamin B, which helps the brain development process. 

11. Onion

"They're anti-allergic, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant." It also has anti-aging properties due to the polyphenol they contain. 

12. Wild Alaska Salmon

As is already known, salmon contains omega 3, which benefits multiple systems, for example: the vascular and digestive. "Research suggests that eating fatty fish, such as wild Alaskan salmon, once or twice a week can increase their life expectancy by more than two years. 

13. Organic eggs

The egg is a source of protein, which helps "maintain and repair your body tissues, including your skin, internal organs, and muscles. 

14. Nuts

They contain monounsaturated fats, which can help you "live longer and even support weight loss. 

15. Bone Broth with vegetables

Homemade bone broth with vegetables can help reduce joint pain and inflammation, promote strong bones, and boost hair and nail growth. In addition it has all the benefits of the vegetables that are added to it.


As you may notice, sometimes eating healthy is not a matter of money, but of decision.
