River life: What is it like living on this boat?

in health •  6 years ago  (edited)

A trip to the UK unexpectedly led me to the Medway River where I was able to live on a boat for a few days, thanks to an awesome friend who thought I might appreciate the opportunity. This film is a little slice of what it is to live on a river. Fantastic in the UK Summer! Winter would be a bit more of a challenge but still fantastic!

It has been a long time since I was last able to sit in silence for a few days, so I was sure to make the most of it.

This is the bedroom/living room.

Nice tour around JP's boat. Good to see you had a relaxing time mate.

Paul! So great to see u here!

It was a rare opportunity not to be missed. Loved it there. Good old JP. No doubt he will have a bigger boat next year!

Big hugs to you and the family :)

You know me, I watch all your content. Good luck with the director. I hope you'll be one step closer to your dream. All the best, and love to your family too :)

Thanks Paul! Exciting times ahead :)

We have just returned from a trip to my mother's world in Norfolk. It was a great week there with all the family.

Love back to your family :)

Great journey of @samstonehill with beautiful family enjoy every moment of life as much as you can life is too short for problems.

You know it. Fun fun fun all the way :)

For someone like myself who lives in the centre of a city with all the attendant noise and bustle, that looks just glorious.'tis no wonder that river folk are happy folk!

I lived in London all my life prior to the 'big departure' in 2012 so I completely sympathise.

Though couldn't have done it without those glorious gardens :)

arg, another Dtube fail for me, I got an error message thought so that is new. I did see the first 10 seconds or so, nice opening sequence graphics.

the media playback was aborted...

like an unwanted child, and I really wanted to see this one, I have a living aboard a small boat fantasy of late. I did spot the boat I have been considering buying new on craigslist last night with all the features I wanted that is just one year old so we will see if that is still available.

I will re-upload to YouTube tomorrow. Loving your fantasy. Having tasted this kind of life I can see how amazing it must be...

Looking forward to finding out if you buy it!

nice, I will be sure to watch it and let you know if I pick it up.

Nice, I will be sure
To watch it and let you know
If I pick it up.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

What a peaceful way to spend a couple of days! I haven't had time away in a very long time either and you just reminded me of how important it is to recharge the batteries in a peaceful, relaxed way...

Oh boy, it's just the best! And yes, we all need a little more of this :)

I lived on a boat in Marina del Rey for a few months! :-) Always had crazy dreams at night. Have a great time!

Awesome you were able to do it for so long! Interesting about the dreams. There is something quite special about the feeling of bobbing up and down when going to sleep :)

.

Five years ago I started out with freshly squeezed oranges in the morning and now I can't eat junk food for more than one day in a row. My body just feels so weird when I do. For the best body/mind connection, it's fruit & veg all the way ;)

Thanks for your comment about the film!

Nice video, and nice looking boat. I can attest to how peaceful it is. I'm staying at a family cottage for the next two weeks, which is great and the quiet is really something out here. We've been out the last 2 days I've been here sailing around the Bras D'Or lakes in Canada (it's rainy and thunderstorms today so it's a break day). When I leave the cottage I'll be living on the boat for the last week of my vacation before I head back to the drudgery of work. There's something about being out there on the water with nothing around, minimal electronics, and plenty of wildlife that can't be beat by anything else.

Aside from the posting I'll do during the trip, you've inspired me to make a little video of the whole vacation. Thanks for that.

It's such a different way of life hey! Love it.

Excellent to hear you 're gonna get that camera out! My memory just doesn't cut it anymore and these little films are perfect for me...

Enjoy!
