Living with Endometriosis- Finding Some Relief
Last month I wrote an article called, Living with Endometriosis- And Foods That Can Help, in which I explained my struggle with the condition. This condition brings about painful cramps, fatigue, and vomiting in women during their menstrual cycle.
Over the last month I have changed much of my diet and my lifestyle to ease my suffering and I have seen a big difference. If you would like to see more about exactly what I planned to do, check out Living with Endometriosis- Changing Diet and Lifestyle.
The diet I tried my best to follow was the Endometriosis Diet, in which for three weeks you avoid caffeine, dairy, wheat, red meat, fast food, food additives, processed foods, and sweets including pastries. I quit caffeine the first day and felt better instantly. I do believe that I could have done nothing more than giving up caffeine to feel better, but I didn’t stop there.
My plan was to exercise three times a week and eat healthier. Since my mind was filled with healthy information and the sudden awakening to all the estrogen in the world and in our food, I went crazy and filled my fridge with healthy snacks, anti-inflammatory vegetables and foods full of Omega-3. I ate salads for two straight weeks, ate more fruits and added fish to our meals.
I read during my research that our bodies instantly react to the foods we eat. I believe this to be true. The healthier foods I ate the first two weeks, the better I was feeling. I even tried spaghetti squash, which was very good. Although I would only make half next time because it was a lot of squash! I haven’t had time to look up healthy recipes yet, but I did my best to avoid the foods on the list.
Exercise was a challenge. It takes me twenty minutes to talk myself into doing a twenty-minute workout. But I did find Dance Fitness with Jessica, which has been super fun. The workouts are a little advanced but are so helpful in getting me up and motivated to make my heart beat and release that pure serotonin!
I did try one strength training video, but I couldn’t walk for two days after I did it, so I decided I would stick with dance for now and maybe add the strength training as my energy increases. I have been keeping track of my progress with stars on my calendar. After each twenty-minute workout I give myself a star. Most weeks I have been able to fill the week days with stars. The stars help.
The cheese war is ongoing. There is cheese on everything. But I have tried my best to avoid it as much as I could considering. The second two weeks I was feeling better and lived through round one (my period), with little suffering so I wasn’t as strict in my diet. I have to say I did get a craving for salad, and think I’ve trained my mind to seek out healthier alternatives to what I normally ate in the past.
During the second round, (ovulation), I did still vomit three times, but this was a much better experience than vomiting non-stop for two days which is what I was dealing with before the new diet. I call it a win. I did still get cramps, but nothing like before. I have been taking Turmeric which is an anti-inflammatory product sold over the counter. I do believe this also helped ease the cramping.
I likewise added a multi-vitamin to my diet and ordered Himalayan pink salt for the extra minerals. I’m sure everything has been adding to my health. I am still tired, but I think this is mostly because I had been sick for so long. I am noticing that I am getting more housework done now which is awesome. I have reduced the amount of Motrin I was taking too.
I know it has only been a month, but I feel at least 75% better because of the changes I made in my lifestyle, which was only me going back to the health freak I used to be. It is going to take more time to gain back some weight, restore my energy levels, and feel normal again, but I do have motivation to feel better.
I would recommend anyone who is suffering from Endometriosis to follow the Endometriosis Diet for three weeks to see if is beneficial to you.
Now all I need to do is keep it up for the rest of my life, or God-willing until I reach Menopause naturally! Thanks for all the support.
I will be sharing this update with my daughter! Thank you!

I hope this information can help her. It really has been such a big difference in how I am feeling. Now I want to run around and tell everyone to quit drinking caffeine!!!!

🤗 My heart goes out to you for having to struggle with the condition every month. (And I thought I had it bad when I was a teen and would do nothing but vomit for the first two days of my period. 😨)
Glad to read that you're feeling better already and that the diet is working out for you. 🌻 (When you get the chance try spaghetti squash sautéed with some garlic, pepper & a light squeeze of lemon. 😋)
I think dancing is one the best ways to exercise, as it's a lot more fun than strength training or a hamster wheel (and you end up with some dance moves 😉).

Thank you! The worst part of it is that the doctors didn't give me any help with it and I had to Google the diet :D I'm sorry you had to deal with that during your teen years too. I will try the squash again it sounds good that way!
