Teddy today 2: and then he bit himself again

So at some point in the hour since we got home from the vet Teddy hurt himself again. He's made a bigger hole than usual this time, but not big enough to need stitches.

To clean his foot I have him stand in a bowl of diluted antiseptic solution in the bath. It's the easiest way to cover a large area without having to touch the wounds and hurt him. I then rinse it with clean warm water and dry it with a towel. When his foot is dry I apply antiseptic cream and cover it with a sock folded to fit, bind it with compression bandage and secure it with micropore tape above his ankle. I wrap it in such a way that he can still straighten and bend his foot as he needs to.
He's been much better about letting me dress his wounds/ foot.
I added some extra padding before putting the sock on tonight to keep the wound closed. I will check on it in the morning again.

Oh Teddy, what are we going to do with you.

Sigh, I know... if the hole hasn't started closing by tomorrow I will take him back to the vet for them to have a look. I need to go collect his medicine anyway. He'll just have to wear the dressing for an extended time now. I can still change it every day just to keep an eye on it but he's lost his barefoot privileges.

I hope Teddy is doing better now! He needs to behave himself.
(Oh, I've mostly stopped using the "cat" tag now because that "catfacts" bot comes on all the time - annoying!!! You can't even interact with it either, it just keeps going.)

He is doing better. This morning he wasn't happy about his new sock but this evening he endured it like a champ.
Yes, it's quite annoying. I'll see if there isn't a different pet related tag to use.

I don't suppose it's an appropriate use of flagging to try to bring down that "catfacts" bot - simply because it's annoying... Actually, some talk highly of that Cheetah bot too, but so far, it's been super annoying, usually bringing up the precise link I'd already used and cited in my article!!! (I've actually "muted" that one.)

Yes, it is so hard to keep "things" on animals, especially cats! A friend of mine has been struggling with the same thing - the cat who had to have his foot removed after an accident. They tried to save it, but it was getting worse - at least they saved the rest of the leg. But no, the cat doesn't want to take thing easy... :p

A cat’s brain is biologically more similar to a human brain than it is to a dog’s. Both humans and cats have identical regions in their brains that are responsible for emotions.

Like humans, cats tend to favor one paw over another

That’s clever to stand him in the antiseptic. Hope he’s stopped biting himself
