New medical word for you - Inflammation

I'm sure that word may have rung a bell when you read it. You must have heard it but haven't been sure what it means. Relative to the health, does it have anything to do with flames or burning? Actually it kinda does. Now what are the things you observe when you have a skin burn? Redness, yeah? Pain, yeah? Swelling sometimes? That's not far from what inflammation is. In concise terms, inflammation is a condition of an organ or cell of the body characterised by redness, swelling, pain, heat and loss of function. It may not consist of all of the following but seeing some of these signs is a pointer to inflammation. You're welcome!
