Summer is over, and whether it’s preparing for the cough and cold season, or being good to fell less guilty during the indulging Christmas season, one is never wrong with incorporating some health hacks into your daily routine! There are several already out there, but here are some you’re very well might be missing!
1. Hot lemon water
Starting off your day right can be essential to stay empowered and energized throughout the day.
A cup of hot lemon water not only does some soothing detox, it generally wakes up your digestive track helping with digestion later in your day. It boosts your immune system with vital vitamin C being excellent protection against catching a cough, and immensely pushes your metabolism to get some extra calorie burn in the morning. Actually, studies have proven that your calorie burn in the morning strongly raises the burn of activities later in your day.
2. A Glass of wine ain’t no crime
Health benefits of the ancient beverage are severely underestimated. Whilst its nature of containing alcohol puts most people off, its health benefits are outstanding and proven by several studies – just google it! Wine drinkers tend to have reduced risks of:
Heart Diseases & strokes
Diabetes
Cancer
Overall, red wine is one of the best ways to go when wanting to enjoy some alcoholic drinks! I suggest, however, to keep your consumption in manner. Although studies indicate 1-2 glasses a day are perfectly fine, you might restrict yourself to 1-2 glasses, 1-2 times a week.
3. Grapefruit
Similar to the whole lemon situation, Grapefruit is packed with antioxidant vitamin C and gives your body refreshing energy. If you’re about some weight loss, eat half a grapefruit before every meal for some metabolism boost. It works! Furthermore, its combination of fiber, potassium, lycopene, vitamin C and choline are said to help maintain a healthy heart.
Lastly, it keeps you hydrated, its antioxidance clears up your skin, and it's deeelish!
4. Protein
Not enough protein in one’s diet can not only lead to a weak immune system, but also actually prevents weight loss! Almost every process in the human body is executed by proteins. Enzymes and digestive proteins, structural proteins (such as collagen for your skin), transport proteins (the oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in your blood) and maaany more. Hence, missing proteins results in a lack of ability when executing basic chemical processes in your body such as the catabolism of fat (breaking up fat so it becomes energy) or the anabolic process of building muscle.
Moral of the story – ensure your protein intake is on its A game!
Things you find proteins in:
Dairy - Especially Greek yogurt or feta cheese
Meat - Chicken is the leanest, but red meat is also packed with protein!
FISH - From Salmon to Tuna, fish has the highest amount of protein in relation to calories
Eggs - The German word for protein actually is egg white, cause egg white is pretty much the purest form of protein you come across
As well as nuts, spinach or kale
No excuse!
