See: Recovered from Rheumatoid Arthritis naturally; a case study (part ONE and part TWO) for the first parts of my story….

Swimming was also key during my recovery. At first someone had to drive me to the swimming pool, because I could not get there even by bus. Walking did hurt too much. But after a week already I could step on my bicycle and go to the pool by bicycle. This was also a big plus which meant I could prolong my movement which in turn enabled me to lower even more drugs.

Lowering drugs was an adventure I can tell you. My doctors gave me heavy doses of prednisone, nsaid’s, and dmard’s to combat the symptoms and lower the inflammation. Now getting off these drugs… was a though road to be on… Every time I lowered my drugs depression, pain and more inflammation started to show it’s ugly head. Depression kicked in because of the lowering of the prednisone. The prednisone takes over the adrenal functions. So after coming down your adrenals have to function and work harder. But it takes some time to get them properly running again. You are basically getting off your favorite drug. It is like coming off heavy caffeine doses squared. If I would not exercise I would lay on the couch feeling sorry for myself. But then I discovered something very very powerful: COLD showers in the morning and during the day. Yes, fully immerse yourself in cold water. This would get the stiffness under control and it would get me out of my zombie mode after coming down on the prednisone. Cold showers actually saved my days back then. Because sometimes I needed to get up and go to the swimming pool to help keep the momentum going. Besides, you feel amazing after a cold shower!

Those days are gone thankfully and I do not have any symptoms for over a year now. It took me 9 months of consistent eating and exercising to get off all the drugs. It took me another 1,5 year to get my full mobility back and get rid off all the symptoms. I really hope my story helps you to get the determination to get rid off your health issues, whatever they are. If you have any questions; please ask.

Wow! I never knew that there was a RA presence here on Steemit, im incredibly excited by this discovery! I have had RA for most of my life and I have been heavily sedated with opiates and other drugs to deal with it. Recently I have started meditation which has caused me to take a better look at my life and why I am not getting better. The drugs! That is why, partially anyway. I feel like the fact that I have been on opiates for so many years has caused me to almost quit breathing all together. We all know that they depress breathing but after half my life on them, I am pretty sure that my autonomic response to breathing has been seriously effected. I plan to get of the drugs and I have already begun taking measures to do so. The hardest thing so far though has been retraining my body to breath. I have been very depressed and just crappy feeling the last couple weeks. That led me to the meditation which lead me to my breathing. Realizing that my natural breathing has been effected, I have begun practicing correct breathing 24/7. My depression has went away, and I feel like I am on the right track. Now the drug and my diet are next. Thank you for this post, it is truly inspiring my friend!
