However, there are several mistakes that you could make on your plan to be leaner and fitter and they may end up making you regain all the weight that you lost and put you back on square one and then you have to start all over again.
I think going through all that process of losing weight even once is enough for most people. That is why, today I am writing about the common mistakes you should avoid to remain the fitter version of you.
1. Your Workout Isn't Working
A common mistake that people do is follow the same routines as other people. They mostly just do the normal routine exercises and that’s it. An important thing to keep in mind however is that different people have different eating habits. So, if you are leaning more towards heavier calorie food or junk food, then you will surely have some extra calories to burn.
Many health coaches suggest people that if you are finding difficulties in heavy workouts then you can take help with other fitness trainers. You should create a routine that you can enjoy instead of doing it regularly without happiness. Always look for the things that inspire you, motivate you and most importantly make you happy.
2. Misreading Your Hunger
When you are trying to lose weight, you tend to restrict what you eat and how much you eat of it. Therefore, the body sees this drop in calories as starvation rather than a conscious decision on your part. This causes the leptin (which regulates hunger) levels drop in the body.
Hence you might feel more hungry and might think that you actually need to eat to remain healthy while in reality, it’s just your body trying to adjust to your new regime. Still, make sure that you eat enough so that you don’t feel weak all the time. In time, the body will adjust to your lower levels of diet and it won’t feel as hungry as before and thus it will get easier to lose weight.
3. Not Getting Enough Sleep
We underestimate the value of sleep so much in today’s world. Getting enough and proper sleep everyday is vital for so many different processes in the body which also includes the way the body processes food.
Studies have shown that being tired or low on sleep can make you want to eat more unhealthy food than when you meet your daily sleep quota. So, if you are trying to lose weight, make sure that you sleep enough so you don’t start reaching for that bag of chips every now and then.
4. Not Recording Your Food Intake
We tend to give more thoughts about stuff that we keep a record of. That’s why recording monetary transaction is something that everyone does, because money is really important, but so is food.
These days there are so many apps that let you record your every intake down to the calories. You should absolutely do this and this can help you be more conscious about what you eat because everything is recorded and there for you to analyse later. The feeling of accountability will surely make you take better decisions about what you put in your body.
5. Eating The Same Amount As Before
A study said that when people gain slim bodies, they also need far fewer calories than before. If you are not doing a heavy workout then you don't need all that calories you were consuming before. Your body has achieved a smaller, leaner tone when you lose weight so your metabolism has also become slow but if you are taking more calories then you can lose your lean body mass and lean tissue.
This is a common mistake that people tend to repeat. If they achieve the leaner bodies solely by workouts, then tend to keep eating the same amount of food as before and this can make them gain weight especially if they stop the workout.
eat what you like to eat don't over eat just do the thing eat healthy foods that's it and exercise ofcourse.

My biggest problem right now is not getting enough sleep. I'm waking up early every day to get to the gym before work, but haven't developed the routine where I fall asleep early enough to get the sleep I need.

I really love this article. You did an incredible job. You brought up some really interesting posts about hunger hormones. This is one of the reasons why its so hard to maintain weight loss after the diet is stopped. When leptin is really high like it is when you calorie restrict yourself for long periods of time, it makes it extremely hard not to gain it all back.
I actually just put up a post about this but I do a lot of research regarding the ketogenic diet and their is some research stating that a ketogenic diet can help prevent the rise in hunger hormones even after severe calorie restriction. Much more research is needed though!
