Japanese study reveals terrifying facts about sleep

People who prefer long-term sleep are more likely to die after 60, researchers say.
Japanese scientists have studied the effect of sleep time on human health.
The data showed that sleep for short and very long periods increases the risk of dementia and premature death in people over the age of 60, according to EureAlert.
The study lasted about 10 years. 1517 people participated. 294 people died of dementia during this period, while 282 died. Mortality and dementia were higher in the group, which slept less than 5 or more than 10 hours. Health indicators for people who slept 5 to 9 hours per day were better than others, according to Sputnik.
Scientists at the University of Colorado at Boulder have observed that uncoordinated sleep negatively affects health. The researchers found that two nights without sleep were able to disrupt the work of more than 100 different proteins in the human body, especially affected by compounds responsible for metabolism and blood sugar content.
Six healthy men under the age of 30 participated in the study. They spent 6 days under the full supervision of doctors. They lived for the first two days according to the usual schedule, stayed awake for the next two days and then returned to normal for two days.
