Medipedia is a blockchain-based healthcare search & service platform for foreign medical consumers in Korea. The platform was developed to make it easier for medical consumers to find and use reliable healthcare services in a foreign country. At the same time, Medipedia provides institutions with easy yet restricted access to patients’ information to enable transparent and better treatments.

The Medipedia platform is available in the form of a desktop app that can be accessed online. Here is how the basic functions of the platform can be utilized.

After successful login, you will be redirected to the dashboard page at which you can see profile messages, including enquiries and promotions.

Step 2: To initiate a medical service request, click on the ‘MEDICAL REQUEST’ option in the left sidebar. A ‘Medical Service Consultation Form’ will open.

Enter the Medical Department name, Treatment type, preferred dates, your Estimated Budget, Currency, Subject of the query and Description in respective fields, and click on ‘Send’ button to initiate the request.

When you click the ‘Send’ button, a popup will open informing you of the service/payment terms. Read the terms and CONTINUE.

After that, metamask transaction popup will open where you need to set a Gas limit and price for your transactions on the Medipedia platform. Each transaction on Medipedia costs a small gas fee. Click on SUBMIT to continue.

Upon successful submission, your service consultation request will be sent to all the concerned Medical providers as per your selection. You will receive a notification for the same.

Click on ‘INBOX’ from the left sidebar to see your messages. Your sent enquiries will be displayed as ‘Pending Reply’. You can check more by opening a particular message. The reply from a particular Medical Provider will be updated in the same message thread for which you will receive a notification.

Step 3: Request for Patient Information (for Service Providers): The particular Medical Service Provider, to whom you sent a request, will receive a message in their Medipedia app inbox. They can then read the case and reply accordingly. There is also an option to ‘Request Access to Patient’s Information’ through which the Service Provider can send a reply and ask for patient’s information for a detailed study of the case,

The Medical Provider will also be required to confirm the messaging transaction and a small ETH cost, based on which a default gas limit and price will be set.

Step 4: Now, the patient can check the reply in their Medipedia inbox by visiting the Dashboard. The reply from the Service Provider would be there. Based on the reply, the user can send the patient’s information for a detailed case study by the service provider. After that, they can continue to further communicate with each other. A patient can also ask for a free consultation and seek answers to queries for their particular medical condition.

Similarly, a patient can communicate with multiple service providers and seek consultation from them. Based on the communication, a patient can choose the best medical service in their budget.

Each transaction (communication) on the Medipedia platform will cost a default gas fee. Each transaction is record in a very secure information database which is impossible to modify without proper authorisation. The information stored will be used for verification in case of a dispute.
