Fennel is a flowering plant species in apiaries order and Apiaceae family, like carrot, celery and parsley. Fennel has aromatic leaves and seeds with small yellow flowers. Fennel seeds are the commonly used part of fennel when it comes to culinary. The most potent part is the small flowers of wild fennel, known as fennel pollen, but are very expensive. Dried fennel seeds are used as spice in many cuisines around the world. Young fennel leaves are used for garnishes in salads, soups and sauces. The fennel bubls can be braised, stewed, grilled, eaten raw or sautÈed. Including it in your meals are really good because it is packed with lots of nutrients and minerals.
