Good morning! This is my first #healthy2018 post. Have you ever heard about overnight oatmeal jars? They are the easiest, tastiest, most filling comfort food breakfast on the go you can find!

mmmmmmm overnight oatmeal!!

I make these oatmeal jars twice a week depending on how much fruit I have to use up. Today I grabbed a bag of berries on sale to make a berry batch, so I thought I'd share this super quick and healthy (and pretty cheap, especially if you use homegrown fruit or homemade yogurt) make ahead breakfast with you!

Decide how many jars you need and lets start!

I use my canning funnel to help here

start adding ingredients, it is that easy!

chia and hemp seeds

adding the sweetner, agave syrup this time

add your milk

give it a little stir before adding the yogurt to make sure the seeds distribute

Last step, fruit! I used frozen berries this time, I have made them with blueberries, strawberries, apple sauce and cinnamon and once I added cacao powder to a batch of strawberry. They were incredible!

now cap 'em and fridge 'em. They will be good to go by morning

And this is what they turn out like the next day after a good stir or shake. They are the bomb!! Filling and healthy!

I am off to eat this and get my day going! Thank you @goldendawne for creating #Healthy2018 :) It is a great idea to share tips and plans!

OVERNIGHT OATMEAL JARS
amounts per jar

1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/3 cup plant based or dairy milk
2 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp hemp seeds
1 tsp honey or maple syrup or 1/2 avage syrup
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1/4-1/2 cup fruit, frozen or fresh

Line up the number of jars you are going to make. Dump the first 5 ingredients into the bottom of each jar, one after the other. I do a quick mix together then add yogurt to the jars. I skipped this step the first time and some of the chia seeds stayed hard...yuck Now finish with your fruit and done! Put the lid on and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

They are ready to eat after 8 hours in the fridge. The milk and yogurt softens the oats and seeds and they can be eaten cold straight out of the jar...just give it a stir and you are good to go!!

How amazing is that!! I am going to try it! We love Chia in coconut milk!!
What a great recipe!

Mmm me too, chia in everything!! These are so good! Takes maybe 15 min to do a batch, that is right up my alley haha!! You are going to love them :)

Great! And, so beautiful ❤ love this initiative!!! I have se3n these before but was not sure how yummy they would be. Can you warm them up in a pot? Or, do you eat them cold? Thank-you for sharing.

You could totally warm them up, that would be delish too! We eat them cold mostly on the go. The oats are really softened by the time they are ready they are a good texture:)

Thank-you <3

OMGosh!!!! Yes!
These are SO PERFECT!

Making sure what ingredients I have in stock here now! I LOVE these!

So portable, easy and I KNOW delicious!

I'll probably grind the oats... I love them but the texture is not a favorite of mine. SO ground oats for me!

That is a great idea, grinding the oats! The texture would be almost creamy....I might try that:):)

Yeah, a smoother texture. Even as a kid the texture of oatmeal just couldn't do it for me. SO my mom would grind it up in the food processor and the way it was granules just stuck with me

Just shared this link with my sister while I sit here eating my oatmeal jar breakfast. I’m hooked!! I love oatmeal for breakfast and I love smoothies for breakfast—this is a deliciously brilliant combo of the two.

Awe yea!!! Right on, I always love finding a keeper recipe:):):) You nailed it! #oatmealsmoothies haha!!

I’m going to try this, thank you for sharing!!

Nice! We make them all the time here. I must admit that I prefer my oatmeal hot. We use almond milk for ours.

I made a batch today without yogurt today to try warmed tomorrow...going to try this out lol!!

Awesome recipe! I am saving it for weekend breakfast!

Thats great! I hope you like them:)

What a great idea! I’m planning on Meal Prep for 2018 and this recope could be my yummy breakfast. Thank you for sharing it with us :) BTW... I loved your jars

I am glad you like it:) meal prep is such a good idea! I would love to hear how it goes if you try them!

That sounds great! I've always heard of overnight oats with a hot ending but I like this refrigerate and eat cold recipe. Have you tried it heated up though?

I have never warmed them but it would be good I think. They taste like a yogurt granola parfait by the morning:)
