Who can resist a cookbook's mouth-watering pictures? Who doesn't remember the scents that came from the kitchen during holidays and even on routine days as a child? Spices, baking bread, and warm cookies elicit a deep desire in most of us. Those who make food have a certain space in everyone's daily calendar, just as eating does. They've ascended to the status of uncrowned gods and goddesses in our life.

Real cooking entails more than dropping a TV supper from a wax-covered box into the oven or microwave or opening a can with a boring picture of green beans on the front. Cooking's actual objective is to nourish these magnificent bodies we inhabit, to allow them to grow and exhibit energy and power, and to maintain them healthy and resistant to diseases and bacteria found in the environment. In a nutshell, the primary goal of cooking is to improve one's health!

When do we receive the greatest nutrition from a fruit or vegetable (or any baked item)? Experts believe that food cultivated in one's own environment has the best nutritional value. Food that has been freshly collected has the highest nutritional value. The worth of vitamins and minerals in a fruit or vegetable decreases after it has been sitting for several days or shipped around the world.

Raw fruits and vegetables in salads or as snacks are the ideal way to 'cook' them for their health benefits. When heat is applied, a significant amount of the nourishment is destroyed. A skilled chef can create a stunning feast using the natural colors of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.

Almost all crops have been contaminated by genetically altered food. This treatment did not exist until the last decade, and it is still extremely contentious due to the lack of long-term human testing.

Infecting a healthy seed or grain with various germs or insects to extend its shelf life and make it look 'beautiful' for the buyer long after the nutritional value has dissolved is referred to as this method. Not only does this harm one's health, but it also leaves the cook with a less-than-delicious product to serve.

Cooking with organically grown natural foods (i.e., without hazardous pesticides or chemical fertilizers) gives today's health-conscious cooks the best chance to enjoy their time in the grocery store and the kitchen. Making a carrot cake that will enchant both family and friends (better make two cakes while you're at it), or preparing a quick but nutritious breakfast so the body can gleefully handle the challenges of the day without needing to be drugged by coffee or caffeine, makes going to the kitchen one of the most enjoyable parts of the day! The cook is truly the household's deity!
