This was just what I needed! I love this insightful course. With our moving lifestyles, focusing on what food we consume has become a priority. Through this course, I believe I can practice healthy eating and be more mindful of what I consume daily. I'm truly grateful to our teacher @nahela for bringing us this educating course to lead our lives toward healthy living.

Based on what you learned in this class, do you consider that you have been eating a healthy diet? Explain your answer.
Yes, as a mother I always prioritize my family's health. Going through this course, I realized that I have been doing my best to prevent diseases. I always try to serve the best food for my family. I was really happy to learn that I have already avoided using many non-recommended foods. As mentioned in the class, eating healthy is very challenging, but if we are mindful of what we consume, we can avoid our unhealthy habits. It has been our practice to avoid purchasing instant noodles, processed meat, Industrial oils, margarine, and confectioneries that cause high spikes in sugar levels.
Still, many food habits are hard to avoid. Controlling what we eat requires a lot of effort. I hope my determination to live a healthy lifestyle will be successful this year. I believe this course will be a great support in enhancing our lives and promoting healthier eating habits.

Here, I share a picture of recommended protein - Plain curd is an amazing source of protein, probiotics, and calcium. I usually eat curd with kithul treacle or some honey to add some sweetness and keep it more nutritious and healthy.
Adding processed sugar or artificial flavors makes it a non-recommended protein because sugar reduces its health benefits.

I normally consume the second extract of coconut milk to keep my food healthy. Since we often use coconut milk in our curries and porridges. Using thin coconut milk is a healthy source of natural fats.
Whereas milk contains more saturated fat it will not be an ideal option for those who are looking to lose weight or a healthy way of living.

For breakfast, we usually have porridge, and today I made a Finger millet porridge. I would not change the way I prepared it because I used all healthy ingredients to it. I even added cinnamon which enhances its flavour and provides many health benefits. Having a healthy porridge filled with nutrition is a great way to start the day. The high fiber content in red millet also helps with digestion and keeps us full throughout the day.

For lunch, I made rice noodles adding egg and vegetables. Here, I have used butter for cooking and also have added Pandan leaves to keep my dish healthy. I have added two eggs which is a great source of protein. I also made sure to add some vegetables like carrots, cabbage, and onions to make it a balanced diet. Therefore, I will not change the method of preparation of this dish.

Lastly, I had one paratha with an egg. I noticed more carbohydrates in my meals, so I would like to change the way I prepared this dish, switching to healthier options like ata flour paratha. I want to make this dish even more healthy by reducing the amount of oil that I use in this dish. Adding some veggies will also make it a balanced diet.
So, here I complete the homework task for SLC23-W1 | Let's learn about macronutrients. It was interesting to look into my diet and find more healthier options to practice healthy eating habits. For me, today's lesson was very helpful, especially because I really want to lose weight.
