Well sort of =). So Hearthstone is a magic the gathering (MTG) style card duel game set in the Warcraft universe run by blizzard. Currently has a bigger player base than MTG and moreover you can earn gold for beating daily challenges. This 'gold' can be used to gamble in Arena mode or used to buy card packs.
100 gold can buy a card pack worth a couple of bucks. Granted the gold cant be used on the exchanges or otherwise transferred, but if you like me enjoy this sort of game (being a ex-MTG player). Chances are you would enjoy it anyways and spend money on it. If your alright at playing this type of game even money decks are quite beatable with easy to cards, so it can be quite easy to rack up quite a pile of gold.
With a new set about the be released I have managed to win enough gold for 25 packs, this should easily provide plenty firepower to rack up even more for the next again release. Thus self fund what could be a rather expensive wee game.
25 packs is not enough. Here is an example:
5% of packs contain a legendary.
There are 2 legendaries for each class in the new set, and 4 non-class-specific legendaries.
You get a little over 1 legendary on average for every 25 packs.
