The Lord moves hearts: Then God changed the spirit of the king to gentleness. Greek Esther 5:8

The book of Esther has two translations, a version written in Hebrew and another version written in Greek; although the texts of Greek origin are not accepted as canonical texts by all Christians; these texts never cease to amaze us by the richness of their descriptions, Mordecai's dream and its interpretation, Esther's prayer to God. Esther's story is the practical application of many sapiential teachings of the Bible. As in Psalm 1, the Psalm of the two ways, the righteous like Mordecai and Esther are rewarded, and Haman, the oppressor of the Jews receives his punishment: "For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction" Psalm 1:6.
The Greek version also shows us how the Lord in his divine providence moves hearts; before Haman's decree that only sought the destruction of the chosen people; Esther, the wife of King Xerxes, thanks to her great beauty, intelligence, and the help of God, manages to change a desperate situation into a situation of joy and celebration, by persuading the King of the injustice that Haman, the main official of Xerxer, was committing.
This is how Esther asks God for the gift of eloquence in the Bible:
"Put eloquent speech in my mouth before the lion and turn his heart to hate the man who is fighting against us, so that there may be an end of him and those who agree with him. But save us by your hand and help me, who am alone and have no helper but you, O Lord" Greek Esther 4:24-25.
And so after praying to God, Esther meets the King who is moved in his heart by her presence:
"Lifting his face, ablaze with glory, he looked at her in fierce anger. The queen faltered, turned pale and faint, and collapsed on the head of the maid who went in front of her. Then God changed the spirit of the king to gentleness, and in alarm he sprang from his throne and took her in his arms until she came to herself" Greek Esther 5:6-8.
Esther's story is the story of how God provides, and how the Lord establishes a just punishment for men like Haman who only promote destruction.
