Yes the fluoride in toothpaste is fine, but continuously drinking it in water over a long period of time can have impact on health. It is also known to build up on the pineal gland and reduce peoples capacity to take action or subdue them in a way, albeit unconsciously as it is a slow and unnoticeable effect which builds up.

I am somewhat agnostic about flouride in toothpaste but agree it has absolutely not place being added to our water supplies.
Especially with the IQ lower effect on children that is observed in studies done outside of the US.
Flouride added to water is a industrial waste product of the potash industry and is completely different the the type of flouride used in toothpaste.
