The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 2, DTube Video #2

in hebrew •  6 years ago  (edited)

Welcome back to my DTube Hebrew reading & language series.

The full study is now on line covering the Alef-Beyt here in my blog. This is a beginners program to teach letters, vowels, and reading. The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on what a word is and how it is pronounced. The confusion is obvious in the hundreds of interpretations globally. In modern Hebrew, only children need a niqqud or vowel marking for each letter. Old manuscripts also usually have vowels marked.

This week - Genesis 2:4-6

There are so many interesting things that come up as we get into the details of creation. Today we see that plants have not begun to grow, no rain, but a mist was on the land to water them. We are also told that there was no man to work the ground yet. And the other big item is that this is the first time the holy name of God appears. It is not "the Lord" but rather the tetragrammaton, יהוה‬ in Hebrew.

Lord is an English word. The Name is quite a different thing. It was banned from being spoken around the time of the inquisition. In Hebrew there are many ways of pronouncing these four letters. I have seen manuscripts that have the vowel included, and the word is clearly Yehovah when reading it as it is written. Others have their reasons for saying Yahweh when reading. Israeli religious people simply replace the tetragrammaton with Adonai when reading it. I have also seen some that choose to replace The Name with ha Shem, which means "The Name". I have been convinced that there is a missing vowel in the middle. If you read long enough, you will see that the scribes put all of the vowels in God's name well over a thousand times and when they do, it is clearly Yehovah.

I will not attempt to resolve the pronunciation debate here. It is quite interesting though, that when I was offered a chance to receive a fluent reading of Hebrew by a fellow Steemian five months ago, he sent me an audio file and permission to post it. He is clearly heard reading The Name as Yehovah even though there is a missing vowel. That audio file is over on dsound.audio, linked here.

I wanted to explain the reason why you hear me saying the Name differently than the ESV Tanakh we are reading. There are good arguments on both sides for its pronunciation. There are good arguments for not pronouncing it.

Here is today's reading

reading2.jpg

The Rain

I really like how clear this is! He had not caused it to rain yet. One look at creation science and you will find they are also talking about Noah and the flood. The fact that there was no rain on the earth until Noah's time, along with the giving of and meaning of the rainbow, makes more sense.

Sir, Thank you so much for writing a blog post with a valuable Hebrew language. I think you are an appropriate personality who can have an accurate understanding of Hebrew.

I think before learning about the Hebrew language, we should know about the history of the Hebrew language because Hebrew has many traditional history.

Dura_Europos_fresco_Jews_cross_Red_Sea.jpg

The source of the Hebrew civilization lands in the Middle East. This civilization was centered around today's Palestine and Israel zones. Ethiopically, the Hebrews were a mixed nation. In terms of diplomacy, architecture and painting, the Hebrews played a very small role in the history of civilization. But the contributions of the Hebrews to globalism in ethics and religious fields were revolutionary. There is doubt about the origin of Hebrew origin names. Traditionally, Khabiru or Habiru has been named Hebrew. Hebrew means foreign, descendant or nomad. According to most scholars, the indigenous Hebrews were in the Arabian land. Their first settlement was developed in Northwest Mesopotamia. Perhaps in 1800 BC a group of Hebrews led by Ibrahim (A :) led to settlement here. Later, Ibrahim (A :) led by Ismail (A :) led to the west. Since then, they have been known as Israeli.

The role of Hebrew religion was more in the background of Christianity. Two-thirds of the biblical references to God's position as Cosmic, God's Unified, Creator, Lord, Lawmaker, and Absolute Judge have influenced the religion of the Hebrew religion. Hebrews contributed to the legislation. The Hebrew law was enacted by ancient Canaanite and Babylonic law. From the Old Testament it is known to the various laws of the Hebrew law. Hebrew literature was better than any ancient literature in the East. Religion was influenced by the influence of religion in their literature. Old Testament originally compiled several literary works. Hebrew does not have much contribution to science. But they have made some contribution to medical science. In the Old Testament, the disease is termed as God's curse.

Hebrew alphabet (Hebrew: אָלֶף-בֵּית עִבְרִי [1] Alefbeitvie) is a writing system composed of 22 letters that are used to write Hebrew language. Five of these letters take different forms in the last position of the word. Some other minor changes in the Hebrew script are used to write more than one language of expatriate Jews. Among the languages, the Swedish language, Ladino language and Judeo-Arabic languages are among the most. The Hebrew script is written from right to left.

You not only remind us and teach some of the history, you also teach us the basics of Hebrew language. The oldest language where even 10 amendments were written on the stone in Hebrew as I belive.

He is clearly heard reading The Name as Yehovah even though there is a missing vowel.

Once again, I’ve learned something new here.

What a great lesson, this is a great way to learn Hebrew

To know Hebrew, you must be familiar with every word and phrase in the Hebrew language, because when you try to acquire knowledge about a language every time, the introduction of letters will help them play a role because if you are correct.

If you have the right knowledge about each semant and alphabet, you will be an expert Hebrew expert.Because in this case, each letter in the Hebrew language has many traditional traditions and ancient beauty. In this case, to know about heroes you must acquire knowledge about each letter and alphabet in the Hebrew language.

It's fun to learn and act further. Thanks!

Very learning story. @hebrew

Shabbat shalom..
I am reading hebrew language

I like these studies, you learn what they have not taught us! The denomination of God is apparently important! Regarding the issue, here in my country there are religious who say that God is said to be Jehovah, I imagine that it is some interpretive writing, for that reason it is important to know very well how it is actually written! Thank you for your studies, eager to wait for the next
