History
  • Herbal Medicine has a significant role in Pakistan. Alot of years ago, the people of Pakistan used Herbs like Ginger and turmeric to heal wounds. When the Islamic Scholars introduced the Unani System about 2500 years ago in Greece then these Herbs became more popular and most ofently used by HakimsHere a question arises what is Hakim?Friends, Basically Hakims are those persons who are very familiar with Herbs as they have a lot of Practice in making the treatments possible from the Herbs.

  • During the British rule in our region, they started promoting Western medicines instead of Herbal Medicines but later when Pakistan gained independence in 1947. Then the Pakistani Government supported the Herbal MedicinesNow days Herbal Medicines in Pakistan are used widely. In those areas where there are less amounts of Hospitals then these Herbal medicines are used in larger quantities. Common herbs include ajwain for digestion, neem for skin, and turmeric for inflammation

Forms of Herbs

There are a lot of herbs like fresh herbs, dried herbs, herbal teas, powdered herbs, herbal capsules, herbal oils, etc. I am discussing all of these below:

  • Fresh Herbs:
These kinds of herbs are in their natural form. Mint is a common example of a Fresh herb and I have discussed that in detail in my 3 Questions. These herbs are often used in cooking or it is also added to tea etc for flavor as they have a very refreshing effect.

  • Dried Herbs:
This kind of herb has a strong flavor. they can be stored for a very long time which makes them useful for cooking. Common examples of Dried herbs are oregano thyme and rosemary.

  • Herbal Teas:
These types of herbs are used to make a tea by simply adding the herb in hot water. We can enjoy the taste and also get benefit from the heb. Examples of this herb are Chamomile and Peppermint.

  • Herbal Oils:
These types of herbs are used for Massage, skincare, and relaxation. It is used in a way that the lavender or peppermint herbs are crushed and oil from this herb then this oil can be used for massage etc.

Safety Report
  • Side-Effects of Tumeric:
As we know Tumeric is very beneficial but it has some side effects which I will discuss. If we get Tumeric in a very high dose then there are chances of some Digestive problems like Nausea, Diarrhea, or stomach cramping and it can also increase the risk of Bleeding. If you get Tumeric at a high level then your iron level will lower and it can create issues for someone with low iron in their body. Moreover some people experience some allergic reactions, such as skin rashes or itching, etc.

  • How to Avoid?
If we want to avoid this then we have to start by getting Tumeric on a very low level. If you are facing some problems regarding this then first of all you should make an appointment with a Doctor and if he tells you to use some supplements/tablets then you have to otherwise don't use them. Those patients who have low levels of iron should take Tumeric with iron foods.

Conclusion

I want to admit that this knowledge given to us by our Dear Sir Afzal is very great. As someone like me learned a lot from this and I am very thankful to him for this act of kindness. I have done with my Homework and this is just possible by his course of week 1. I have learned and acknowledged it very well. I have answered all the questions mentioned according to my knowledge. The questions were about the History of Herbs, and the Comparison Table of Herbs, then I discussed about 3 Herbs that I used in my Kitchen and then some Forms of Herbs, and I talked about the side effects of any one herb (Tumeric) and how to avoid it. Learning all about that is very useful and I hope that you will like this and I am waiting for your feedback.
