Assalamualaikum... Today I am back to study and in this herbal class, and I am happy because I got the chance to join. Before I start I would like to invite @itikna09, @rumaisha and @abdullahw2.

Let's start working on the given assignment..

Homework

Toothache Medicine: Make a toothache medicine. Explain how to make and use it.

Many rural communities still use herbal concoctions to treat toothaches in their children. On this occasion I will use two herbal ingredients that are very easy to find, I happen to have these ingredients in the kitchen and I often use them for cooking spices.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cm of turmeric or 1 small segment.

  • ¼ teaspoon of salt.

  • Grater.

  • Grind or grate the turmeric until it forms a paste.,

  • Mix the salt evenly.

How to use:

Apply the turmeric paste to the sore tooth and gum area., let it work (absorb) for some time, then rinse with warm water and then throw it away, do not swallow.

It is used twice a day. Always give it in smaller doses. Do this treatment until the toothache is cured.

It would be wiser to ask for advice from a health expert before giving this concoction to children, it is better if the toothache medicine is only given to children aged 5 years and over.

How turmeric and salt work:

Turmeric and salt are often associated with their natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. And also have antibacterial compounds. Both work together to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are the actors causing infection and this concoction works to reduce pain in the teeth and gums.

Salt has been used for hundreds of years to overcome toothache and gum problems. In addition to children, salt is also often used to relieve toothache in adults.

Research Task: Researching three herbs that are safe for children and explaining their health benefits.

  1. Ginger.

Ginger is very good if given to children. Because the taste of ginger is a bit spicy, it is best given to children who are over six years old. Because if ginger is given to children who are too young, it can cause diarrhea, and this has caused dangerous allergic reactions.

Benefits of ginger: as a herb to relieve symptoms of fever, flu and can smooth breathing in your beloved child.
Ginger also has properties as a natural antibiotic. However, you must be careful with ginger, you need to get advice from a health expert before giving ginger to children. Avoiding side effects is much more important.

  1. Garlic.

Although garlic is safe for children, you need to supervise it when giving it to your children. Some children will experience allergic reactions to garlic, so consult a health expert or nutritionist first.

Garlic can be given to children over 1 year old by mixing it into softened food.

It is not recommended to give garlic to babies, because garlic can cause irritation, especially to more sensitive skin. So you have to be careful in giving it.

While the benefits of giving garlic to children are several. It is like a supplement for the immune system. Helps relieve symptoms of fever and colds, (not to cure, just prevent). There are also other benefits such as facilitating digestive problems and is even very useful for fighting bad bacteria.

  1. Guava.

IMG_20241218_171651.jpg

I have an experience when I was a child. At that time I was having diarrhea and my mother gave me a guava leaf concoction mixed with a little salt, then I chewed and swallowed it. and the result was that the diarrhea I experienced immediately subsided in a few days. So I think this herb is very safe for children.

However, it should be noted that its use must be according to the recommended dosage. Usually guava leaves are only given 3 times a day. If given more than the dose, it is likely to cause allergic reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and other problems.

As for other benefits, guava can increase children's immunity. It can also be used to maintain children's skin health. And most importantly, guava can improve the digestive system.

However, overall, there needs to be supervision and recommendations from health experts before giving various herbal concoctions to children, this aims to prevent the risk of allergic reactions and side effects in its use.

Herbal Remedy for Bedwetting: Make a herbal remedy to treat bedwetting in children. Write down the recipe, steps, and observations.

Okay, this time I will make a recipe as requested in this lesson, namely a remedy to treat bedwetting in children.

I will use only two ingredients, namely cinnamon and honey. How to make it is very easy:

IMG_20241218_171835.jpg

  • Boil 5 grams of cinnamon for 10 minutes, then strain into a glass and add 1 tablespoon of honey. Let it cool and then give it to the children.

IMG_20241218_171735.jpg

The dose can be adjusted according to the instructions in this course. Usually children under 2 years old can be given one spoon in the form of herbal tea. Or children who are over five years old can be given ½ small glass of boiled tea water.

How cinnamon and honey work:

  • Cinnamon can control excessive and excessive urine production. With its antioxidant properties, cinnamon is able to maintain bladder health. Cinnamon is also anti-inflammatory and useful for fighting bacterial infections that cause bedwetting in children.

  • Honey can provide warmth and absorb moisture. So honey is very suitable to be used as a potion to prevent bedwetting in children.
Both of these herbal ingredients (cinnamon and honey) will work to strengthen bladder health and prevent excessive urine from coming out. In addition, this potion can also provide warmth to the child's body temperature, so that children will feel comfortable and not easily wet the bed.

Observation:

So far I have not given this potion to children, coincidentally there are no children around me who have a habit of wetting the bed. It takes a week or even more to prove the efficacy of this potion, so I think it is impossible to make observations in a short time.

But my mother once told me that a neighbor of mine had given this recipe to her child, and the results were very good even though it took several weeks.
