Energy can rise and fall, just like a river ebb and flows. This is natural. Throughout nature we see this, in fact it teaches us about flow and natural cycles. For me and I am not the only one, I am rediscovering nature and myself, going back to my roots. This is why I wish to share plants, herbs and their abundant healing properties with the world.
For me it is a lot more than a physical element, plants and nature have so many layers. In this instance, the rosehips. Just like a connection I feel with its rose flowers, it too has a energetic presence. The thorns and little spikey hairs inside the fruit try to prevent you from getting close to her, but everyone can see just how beautiful she is. If you gently show her patience and love, she will allow you close to her to bask in her beauty.
The rosehips are packed full of Vitamin C ( 60 times more than an orange - throw all your oranges out the nearest window..joking. ) anti-inflammatory, mild diuretic and laxative due to the fruit acids and pectin, astringent to help regenerate new skin cells with high amounts of Vitamin A- making it a great addition to skin care regimes and products, antioxidant due to the variety of antioxidants: carotenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, leucoanthocyanins and catechins and aids the immune system.
When making a tea or using the rosehips for the skin, be sure to sieve off the fine hairs as they can be an irritant to the skin (known here in Ireland as itchy backs)
Some suggestions to try when you discover rosehips and their beauty: A syrup, jam, oil, tea and dry them and store them for future purposes. I hope the these plant posts inspire more than just the inner herbalist in you. I want them to teach you how to love yourself in everyway throughout life.
