The Joy of Being Present (5): Sigh Of Relief.steemCreated with Sketch.

in hereandnow •  7 years ago

Have you ever found yourself sighing deeply out of the blue as if there has been a burden and finally relieved? Your breathing pattern shifted from shallow to deep? The light around you got brighter and colors became vivid?

This is what happens when your attention shifts from the mind to the real world. When you become more attentive to the sensations your body receives. It feels like awakening. Some people got these experiences when they meditate or pray. Yet the reason is the same; when the mind quietens the body gets more relaxed and its functions run more smoothly and effectively.

Thinking process keeps you busy doing nothing. Repeating bad memories or anticipating threatening scenarios in future. Unattended thinking leads to negative emotions that have nothing to do with the current physical reality, which is usually more peaceful than that in your mind.

When you bring your thought process into awareness, it no longer controls you. You get unidentified with it. For the most part it is not one-time practice, actually it takes time quit your mind, unless you are stricken by something (Might be good or bad) that forces your attention out of your mind.
By quitting the mind, you become rooted in this present moment. You simply awake to the reality around you and the reality of who you really are.

Wish you have a peaceful moment right now.

Thanks,

Very good post dear @alignment :)

I suffered from depression and had so many negative thoughts, fears and worries. Once I started meditating, this got more and more better as my thoughts didn't control me like that anymore and I was able to watch them from third person perspective intead of thinking I am my thoughts. This really helped me to arrive in the present moment and improve my menatl and physical health SO, SO much! :)

Great post and blog, definately followed! :)

Best wishes <3

Happy for your recovery. Keep up. Thanks for sharing your experience.
you are always welcome dear @endorphoenix.

Thank you very much :)

I love it in a way that in order to fall asleep I need to have about 15 minutes absolute mental Silence, otherwise I won't fall asleep, for I have never gotten tired again for many years. So this state of mental Silence is the only way for me to fall into sleep :)
This is great in a way, because this way the practise of mental Silence is not a "can" or "should" but a natural necessity :)

Exactly, the natural state of the mind is to be quiet. The programming one receives through out his life puts a lot of stress on him, forcing him to over-think every single detail.
