Are we in it? How long will it be before everyone is extremely conservative with their upvotes? Did you notice that your upvote went up more than 4x? Me too. I'm skeptical, but absolutely loving it. It's kind of like when I was little, and we would run down the stairs to the Christmas tree, on Christmas... That's how I feel... All giddy inside.

When will the effect wear off though? Will it ever? What are your guesses? Am I the Scrooge of Steemit for even bringing this up? I'm just trying to comprehend it all. Rant over.

It's crazy. It caught me by surprise when I posted just now and went WHAAAT.

I expecting that the number of votes, or at least the value of votes will go down since people are more selective over their upvotes due to the amount of voting power it eats.

For now though, I will join you on your Christmas fuzzy feeling and give you a 100%! Go buy yourself an ice cream, hehe!

Omg you're awesome!

My vote power is 27x what it was yesterday!

Such a contrast to the last fork! Let's ride it while it lasts :D

Take 100% with my compliments.

Hey, let's ride it man!

Thanks bud!

I'm having a hard time seeing this as sustainable.

Bah humbug!

Me too...

It doesn't look "too sustainable" but how will it get corrected if at all. We might just see the price of Steem skyrocket and the platform acquiring a lot of new users. There are a lot of cryptocurrencies that are worth hundreds, could Steem do the same? How will the steemit environment look like if that becomes the case and individual votes of larger players end up being worth hundreds or even thousands?

Good point...

This actually might be worse in the long run if people are being stingy with their votes.

That's my thought! But then again you can always use the voting bar and do like 25%, which I think people might do after this initial phase - to carry their percentages out and not lose so much.

I need this bar you speak of lol

I've been told it doesn't matter how many vests you have if you have the eSteem app... They have a voting bar for every account. My wife just confirmed this.

I think that people are a little careless with their votes right now, the new power is intoxicating! I know that I'm hit at least...🤑

It is wild! I'm just enjoying it while we can

That's all we can do bud!

Our votes are 4 times more valuable now (possible more for the smaller accoutns due to the curve as well) but they are practically 4 times fewer.

So in a sense, your total voting power hasn't really change, it just drains faster through voting. This might meant lead to people being quite conservative with their votes.

Still, accounts that have more than 500SP can adjust that back to the old settings so they have weaker votes, but more of them and get a very similar voting experience.

Right, and people lower than ~482 SP can use eSteem app to have the voting bar too, something I didn't know about but my wife confirmed.

Yep, this is true, @good-karma just mentioned that in the comments on his HF19 and eSteem post just now.

My votes were worth basically nothing before this, so I'm really excited about the change. Also, as much as I love Steemit, I only have so much time to spend on the site. I'd rather give fewer upvotes that are actually worth something than unlimited upvotes that are worth nothing. If I'm understanding this change right, I think most minnows and dolphins will benefit from this as we won't need to hope for a whale's upvote in order to earn something.

Am I missing something to this change? Like, if I use up my voting power, does it affect how much I earn on my own posts?

If not, then I remain optimistic and excited. :-)

Good points! No you will still earn the same but what you are able to give will diminish.

I think with the huge influx of new users on this site that the overall impact will be positive.

I agree. :)

I certainly hope so too! :)
