So here I am, reading comments and watching votes for my latest post that I just published Gone Whale Watching... Take 2 and then suddenly there is a downvote for the post... a downvote for no apparent reason and from a bot?!
Does anyone have an idea about the @highasfuck bot and why it is going around and flagging posts with no apparent reason? Looking at his log on steemd shows that it has downvoted quite a lot of posts, but the bot is not only downvoting... it is upvoting posts as well.
Since the bot has 10806 STEEM POWER or about 34M Vests it is really capable of doing a lot of harm!!!
If you have a question or want to add something, then please leave a comment below.

@highasfuck is trying to help by voting in opposition to r4fken, who was maliciously flagging..
But r4fken has caught on and is upvoting now to draw @highasfuck 's flag. He needs to change his bot to only vote in opposition to r4fken when he downvotes.

This is like 10 second modification to the bot code... I wonder why it was not added initially to prevent the possibility of actually abusing more voting power than he has by misleading the bot to vote negative on his positive votes.

I would presume it wasn't added initially because HAF didn't think of it. There was no reason to think that r4f would catch on, especially not so quickly. And meanwhile, it was time sensitive because people's posts were being memory holed. I mean its a shitty situation ,but hopefuflly it will be discovered and corrected relatively quickly. At least it comes from a good place.

Hopefully... I'm not sure who is actually operating this bot to notify him/her to fix the issue.

O my God do I see clear? r4fken gave you an upvote and then the other one gave you a downvote!
This is messed up really!

Yep, either way you get a downvote... if this is the solution to fight revenge flagging it is definitely not a good one!

Personally, I think that @dantheman is going to realise soon that there is no positive social outcome from negative voting and flagging. I think the feature needs to be removed from the protocol. Shunning is far more effective, and does not incentivise bullying behaviour, in fact, this attention-seeking behaviour is precisely what needs to be punished. Really lame, but it will take time for everyone to realise how frickin dumb it is to allow negative voting.

There still needs to be some kind of measure against spam etc., I have expressed my concerns already about the possibility of somebody with more resources and power that can start abusing the system and this is apparently already happening. We need a solution that will solve the problem and not counteract it in a way that is not so good...

If you have a good grasp on the way distributed and cryptographic systems work, you would understand that they are more real-life-relevant and realistic in the way they work. More specifically, political power does not function in the cryptosphere. As many people point out, if you send out an encrypted signal, others can then apply cryptanalytic mechanisms and maybe they can yank your secret out of it and compromise the rest of your communication. This is a very different model to trusted third parties holding custody of your communications. It is much harder to break those systems, except if you can get control of the trusted third party's system, you can 0wn so much.
So it's an exploratory process that we are seeing unfold, and the stakes are very high. Finding the right answer, and quickly, is critical. I think it is a fantastic process for especially the kind of people who are attracted to a system like this. We all want to have a collection of proven best practises for cryptographic security, and here we can see it play out, right in front of our eyes.

It is really a problem from new users that just joined, it leaves a bad first impression... and that is probably the goal of the abuser.

Happened to me, just the opposite, r4fken downvote and highasfuck upvoted soon after. Seems highasfuck is a bot that votes exactly opposite of r4fken.

Not the best solution of the problem, just a temporary fix probably hoping that the user will get tired of revenge flagging in a while, we need a better solution... there could be more cases like that in the future.

Looks like r4fken is playing with this bot now, to get the bot to do the downvoting. The sum does look positive for you however as r4fken's upvote is worth more than highasfuck's downvote.
Edit: I was wrong is the other way round, it's a net negative for you.

regarding your edit: this proves my point. This bot operator is a malicious so-and-so, and their deleterious influence will be neutralised. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when this twit's machinations finally hit brick walls, and they cry out in anguish. HAH! it's coming, motherfucker.

I already have more voting power than @r4fken, so I'm not bothered by him, but I did not expect that a bot will be downvoting my post as a means to "fight" him... the bot does have significantly more voting power than me however. I have already countered some posts where he has downvoted new user's post essentially hiding them.

This looks like a battle of bots. @highasfuk is neutralizing @r4fken's votes.

Great, so either the first or the second one will leave your post flagged...

If this is some kind of a revenge flagging against Steemit as whole, then there should be some kind of measure against such things... especially when somebody has enough resources to really do some serious harm!

It is revenge flagging by r4fken. HAF was trying to counter it, but he did so in a gamable way (that r4fken discovered). Im sure hell correct his mistake once he realizes it.
