Santa Margarita River Trail-After the Rain #SOCAL

in hiking •  7 years ago

A couple of days in the house this week had us yearning to be out in Nature for a bit. After all the wonderful rain we have been receiving we ventured out to see how the Santa Margarita River was fairing. Even though it has rained recently San Diego County has received less than 1/2 of normal percipitaion.

Back Entrance is the quickest to some of the deeper parts of the river. I say deep but thigh high is the highest we have ever seen it. Back Entrance is Located off North Stage Coach Lane. There's an Area to Leave a few cars by the mailboxes IMG_20180315_140131.jpg

That foam in the water though. Wash your feets!

It's amazing how fast things get green here after a rain. Like an African savannah. I think I'd be more inclined to keep my shoes on going thru the stream. Apparently wool socks work best - and in SoCal, they do tend to dry out. And... it's good to print the green pictures and put them on the wall to remind you during the summer when everything turns to steam and heat! Sorry, got carried away. Great pictures. :-))
