Commonwealth Treasurez - A New Face of Hip Hop Universally and in Malaysia!

in hip •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hip Hop has always been about bridging a divide between various races and nationalities even though different political schools of thought have evolved over the years that may bring an argument to this first most statement. Back in the Boogie Down Bronx in Hip Hop's Teething days , Black, Puerto Rican and White youth's B- Boyed together and shook hands in one unity. People often talk about Hip Hop being a Black Music art form and while that holds some substance, if one is aware of the culture then they would know that it encompasses and can embrace all kinds of races and nationalities.

I grew up in the North East of England in a City called Sunderland which was and still is a predominately White city and Hip Hop was definitely liked by a significant minority. Due to that people joined together from various ethnicities and backgrounds to make music and develop the 'ArtForm' and that was something I saw Hip Hop did the most amongst the other subcultures of my City and region. Not that this means any downgrading or criticisms of other music forms back then or now but Hip Hop did and still does bridge any so - called divide and enpowers people to look beyond the physical and learn more about one another.

Now my early days in Hip Hop is another story that I'll compose later but for now I want to fast forward to 2018 and briefly talk about my current crew and what they are about in relation to being a ' New face of Hip Hop Universally and in Malaysia?'

I guess that most things in life aren't planned and nor was the formation of the ' Commonwealth Treasurez' a Hip Hop crew based out of Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia) combining a plethora of talent and a multi -cultural package that is almost exotic to be precise.

We come from the following countries, UK , Malaysia, Nigeria, Botswana, Indonesia with affiliates from Canada and Lebanon and Australia not to mention the various ethnic vibes in the mix. I guess every crew has its Head and I'm exactly that and I really want to see this crew of individuals do more and more dope music as a collective and individually.

The idea of Commonwealth Treasurez is to erase stereotypes and create something original and fresh for people to see and hear with a universal and enpowering message behind it all.

God Willing more material is on the way and at this point I would like to introduce the " Commonwealth Tresurez' first outing the track named ' Loyalty Currency' which was produced by Lebanon's DJ Lethal Skillz and feat the following emcees, Stephan the Greenman ( Malaysia ) ESE ( Malaysia ) RapBeast ( Malaysia ) Fourny P ( UK ) & King Hippo ( UK ).

Hope those who read this article will enjoy it and the video and as they say 'More To Come'!

Much Love
