The Internet is not a name I would associate with having anything to do with urban music. Or with anything to do with what sounds good for that matter. But I took a dive at it anyways, for the lack of any interesting albums for this month. I’m right now kicking myself for not discovering them sooner. This kind of band should be on the fore front of the music industry leading the charge from all the photocopied crap being produced for the radio these days.

Formed by Odd Future members Syd (vocals) and Matt Martians (vocals and keyboards) in 2011, this Neo-Soul and R&B band also features members Steve Lacy (guitar and vocals), Patrick Page II (bass guitar), and Christopher Page (drums). Their first album, ‘Purple Naked Ladies’ was released on 20 December 2011, and was the first album to be released under Odd Future Records.

Their current release, ‘Hive Mind’ was released on 20 July 2018. It has 13 tracks with a run time of 57 minutes. As I’ve been writing these album reviews over the past two months, I’ve been thinking to myself, “Do any of these new (or old) artists make albums more than six to eight tracks anymore?” Well, this album has renewed my faith in having substantial content from relatively new artists.
I haven’t given it a thorough listen, but there hasn’t been anything I haven’t liked. It’s a chill, groovy, and relaxing trip all the way through. I’ll be having this album on rotation for a while, whilst checking out their back catalogue. The whole Odd Future catalogue for that matter. If you already knew about this band and had respect for this band, I deserve a yelling at from you! Please leave me more recommendations and your thoughts in the comments below!

Stay tuned for the next edition and be sure to follow me at @stickykeys! Also if there are any albums you would like me to review, drop a comment below.
