5 Songs to introduce them to Venezuelan Rap
One day they asked me what songs I would show someone to present the Venezuelan rap. I responded with some recommendations and then, I was thinking and I was not satisfied. After almost 20 years of Rap, where do I start? Beyond what each exponent has represented for the movement, what songs could serve as an appetizer for an outsider to our rap?
I clarify that although this selection completely obeys my taste of the different styles of rap that are handled in the country, I consider that they are excellent songs that could also invite you to investigate more in our genre.
So regardless of the order these are the 5 songs that could show you the Venezuelan Rap:
Lo necesario - Apache
In October 2011, Apache from Cuarto Poder brings us the first single from their third production: "Lo Necesario". In the promotional video we can see the Raptodonte making an impeccable display of its characteristic flow. Rapping with a free style where more than competition letters, it seems an exhibition of experience by the MC of Las Minas.
On da top - Canserbero, Lil Suppa, Kputo
Belonging to the album "Can + Zoo Indigos", from the year 2008 by Lil Suppa and Canserbero and under the production of Gbec. "On da top" is a reference to hardcore and the boombap in Venezuela. The punchlines of Canserbero, the flow of Suppa and the excellent rhymes of Kpu in his facet of MC, added to a brutal sound of the hand of Gbec, make "On Da Top" a mandatory stop when it comes to meet our Rap.
Difundiendo - Nigga Sibilino
El Nigga is a pioneer of our rap. Constant from its beginnings and in spite of being in joint projects with other exponents, the local public knew how to differentiate it from the rest, being always attentive to what "Jimmy Boleta" had to say. "Spreading" is in my opinion one of the best songs in his repertoire. I like to call it "Rap for big people": thoughtful, uncensored, direct and with a rapping that is more like declamation. Excellent if you like witty rap and with poetic tints.
No es mi culpa - Gregory Palencia
Gregory Palencia is a rapper of the new school and the most versatile of our scene. Apart from a bestial flow that adapts to any instrumental, it has a privileged voice that helps you differentiate your style from the rest; standing out in the intonation of choirs and voices of reinforcements. "No es mi culpa" comes out in May 2016 and it's a rap of pure and simple competition; with punchlines, flow, witty lines and a too sticky chorus that make it the perfect dish to present Venezuelan rap.
Malandreo Negro - Guerrilla Seca
The banner of the Venezuelan Gangsta Rap. «Malandreo Negro» by Guerrilla Seca is a collector's item and the first story of the street rapped in our country. With a style very well represented by Lito and Polaco in Puerto Rico that Colombia and Rekeson make theirs without major complications. Telling us a daily story in Venezuelan neighborhoods about two friends who find in the underworld the solution to their situation of misery.
Soon I will be making other articles recommending records, and exponents of Venezuelan national rap. Greetings
