Lil 1/2 Dead - Had To Be A Hustler - CLASSIC G'FUNK, WESTCOAST, DPG-SOUND

in hiphop •  7 years ago

Poor Lil' Half Dead, an LBC rapper most people may (or may not) remember from the Dr. Dre albums The Chronic and 2001, not as a guest, but being namedropped by Snoop. He was a part of Snoops extended Dogg Pound Gangstaz Clique in the early days, but already by the release of Murder Was The Case soundtrack, he was ousted from the crew, I don't know why. But Swoop G dissed him on Who Got Some Gangsta Shit, and soon Half Dead resurfaced with two near classic g' funk albums. Great production, and he had a great melodic rapping style (akin to Domino, another fav of mine) but I can't help but wonder how they would've sounded with Death Row/DPG features.
