Kingdoms in Competition

I would have given you an A for this one! It's the kind of thing I'll save for later and read more carefully on my iPad before sleep. History is a safe place to reside, before sleep... nothing more is going to happen:) Seriously, though, I always find it an instructive reminder about the impermanence of geographic boundaries and political entities. Helps to put current struggles in perspective. Nicely written.

Thank you, it feels good to be able to add something positive and in a way people enjoy reading it. History is endlessly fascinating ... its just a pity it isn't presented more interestingly in school (I wasn't a fan, lol).

That has been one thing that struck me in a big way - the way borders and leadership could change so rapidly. Thinking about the sacrifices so many had made, and all that.

I was a history major in college and taught history for a few years, so you're talking to a dedicated audience :)
