in history •  7 years ago

Þrídrangaviti Lighthouse in the south of Iceland. Perhaps the world's most desolate lantern. In the 1930s the vessels attempting to dock in Iceland set off on the Westman Island inhabitants when they crashed into Şırdrangar, or "three rock pillars", and there were no helicopters at the timewhen the climbers of the island saw that it was impossible to hold on to the rocks, they created the human chain when they were summit. Finally, the construction of the lighthouse was completed in 1939. image
