I just recently read a couple of articles that introduced me to someone i knew nothing about previously and figured a lot of other people would also be unfamiliar with. These articles were about John F Kennedys sister, Rosemary Kennedy. Rosemary was born with special needs, and back in that time that was something that wasnt as accepted as it is now. By the time she was 18, she was only reading at a 4th grade reading level. Sometime in 1941 her father, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., learned about a procedure called a lobotomy and decided to give it a try, but decided against telling his wife. Well they removed part of her brain, and it ended up leaving her even more disabled than before, causing her trouble speaking, walking, and even using the bathroom. Her father sent her off to a catholic school to be taken care forby nuns. At this point her father cut off contact with her for the rest of his life, probably due to the shame of what he did to his own daughter. The family never brought the situation up until after her brother John F Kennedy got elected as US President, at which time they left out the story of the lobotomy and just told the world she was mentally retarded. Even after all of this, Rosemary still ended up being the first of her siblings to die of natural causes. theres plenty more to the story if you all want to look into it, and i appologize if this isnt the content that my normal followers want to see, but i found this whole thing really interesting so i thought i would share
