So who built the first electric battery-powered submarine you may ask? It was Sailor Isaac Peral who built Peral, which was the first electric battery-powered submarine. Isaac Peral was a engineer and sailor for the Spanish Navy when he built this. It was launched on September 8, 1888, 129 years ago! This submarine had one torpedoes tube and 2 torpedoes and an air regeneration system. It was the first submarine to incorporate a fully reliable underwater navigation system.
