The Harau Valley in West Sumatra is a landscape in the form of a majestic and beautiful canyon. Since long, this valley has attracted tourists from various regions. The uniqueness of the valley surrounded by steep granite cliffs that reach hundreds of meters in height made many Dutch people interested in visiting it.

The Harau Valley is protected as a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary, so that its ecosystem is not invaded by humans. There are various flora and fauna of the rainforest and typical of Sumatra that live there.
