DOCUMENTARY: The Incredible Wright Brothers

in history •  6 years ago

The Wright brothers were two American engineers, inventors and aviators who are usually credited with inventing, building, and flying the first successful airplanes in the early 1900s. The Wright brothers developed the engineering upon which modern airplanes were built. Interestingly, the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, developed their airplane at a time when engineers generally believed that metals could not fly.

The short documentary below tells a simplified story of the Wright brothers and chronicles their groundbreaking ideas in the emergence of aviation technology. I hope you'll find the documentary educative and even inspiring.

Let's not forget that ages before the Wright Brothers took to the air, the indigenous Australian Aboriginal People had mastered and perfected flight with their boomerangs!

It is great to read your post. I have not heard about the flight developed by the aboriginal people.

While they didn't actually develop aircraft and flights carrying people as the Wright Brothers did, they did create one of the most aerodynamic devices that would lift a piece of wood into the air, fly outwards and retun to the thrower.
Now that is pretty impressive!!

Wow. Sounds really incredible, to say the least. I will appreciate if you could help me with a link to this amazing fact.

Here's some useful information @gandhibaba - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomerang

Boomerang
A boomerang is a thrown tool, typically constructed as a flat airfoil, that is designed to spin about an axis perpendicular to the direction of its flight. A returning boomerang is designed to return to the thrower. It is well known as a weapon used by Indigenous Australians for hunting.
Boomerangs have been historically used for hunting, as well as a sport, and entertainment.
