Harper's Ferry West Virginia

in history •  9 years ago

You are in Harpers Ferry, standing beside “Jefferson’s Rock” overlooking the Shenandoah River where it meets the Potomac. The steeple from Saint Peters Roman Catholic Church stands tall, watching over the “Point” where George Washington built an armory for interior defense.

Thomas Jefferson once stood here saying "this scene is worth a voyage across the Atlantic"

Harpers Ferry's is a wealth of history, beauty, and only a short trip from D.C. I encourage you to visit. Plus there is no need to cross the Atlantic, however getting out of the Beltway poses almost the same challenges.
