Images from Olympic Games of the past are very sad. In their day, these were glorious venues, presented with great pomp and circumstance. Places that, it was said, would "Live for the Ages."
Now, history tells a different story. It’s unbelievably sad what's happened to many of the sites and venues that, just a few short years ago, were the pristine stages for the only true worldwide athletic competitions.
This is the final part covering the 20th Century. Next we will go on to the 21st Century.
This is one of the spectator stands for the 1988 Games in Calgary. Seems pretty evident that left long enough, most of these venues will disappear into history and become virtually invisible.
There was a lot of action in the Stadium in Atlanta in 1996. But, it's now a parking lot, from what I read.
Tennis matches galore were played in Atlanta. Somehow, what must have been a fantastic venue has certainly fallen on hard times.
