The Reincarnation Of The CatharssteemCreated with Sketch.

In case you're one of the four people on earth that didn't see The Da Vinci Code, the Cathars were a religious sect in Southwest France in the 13th century. The Pope declared them heretics and this is what kicked off the Inquisition. Long story short, they were wiped out... mostly burned at the stake. Fast forward to the present.

In the 1970's a British psychiatrist named Arthur Guirdham had a patient, a "Mrs. Smith" who, under hypnosis began to recount a tale from the 13th cent... about being one of the Cathars. Tony Robinson, of the Time Team, decided to investigate the claims. Now let me say from the beginning- I'm a cynic, a skeptic...

First, I don't trust psychiatrists or psychiatry... I think they're in general a bunch of bullshit artists. Second, I don't trust hypnosis- people under hypnosis can be "given" memories. So what happened with Dr. Guirdham's patient? Apparently, after Mrs. Smith, several other women came forward with similar stories. This is when the bullshit alarm began ringing madly. Did Guirdham actually GET information from the patients, or did he GIVE it to them? Reason (and cynicism) tells me that the memories are a product of Dr. Guirdham's imagination (and lengthy research).

In the video, they cite police interrogation techniques where suspects are fed bits of information and they are encouraged to elaborate on it. Such was the case with Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler. The police would say things like: "and then you placed the stocking around her neck, right?" And DeSalvo only had to agree. I believe this to be the case with Dr. Guirdham and his patients.

So, I decided to check out Dr. Guirdham. According to Brian Inglis' book, A History of Medicine, "Guirdham was given to making sweeping assertions unsupported by evidence." Psychologist, Robert A. Baker says, "[He] ignores science and embraces the supernatural." Finally, historical researcher Ian Wilson says, "his claims contain serious errors and inconsistencies."

Personally, I also don't believe in reincarnation of this sort. If burning prevents resurrection, why do the Cathars keep showing back up? Like I said, I'm a cynic and this story makes my bullshit meter go off the chart... But, I've been wrong before. You tell me what you think.

Burning does not prevent reincarnation.

There are actually demons in the vatican.

And thank goodness we have the Tibetans.
Who have a long history of knowing and respecting a person lineage.
People who have reincarnated over and over.
People who recall their own incarnations.

People like the Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama reincarnates, and on his 5th birthday begins teaching again where he left off. Imagine a 5 year old giving a sermon.

In Tibet, reincarnation is an accepted fact.
And, although there is a HUGE PILE of evidence, the western society still is skeptical.

Have you ever studied about monks that achieve 'Light Body'?

Creating your "Light Body" is just a step along the path of transcending.
Since a few people transcend every year... I do not know what you are asking about.

Apparently there is about 150,000 documented cases of achieving Light Body/ascending from the whole India/Tibet region. As I understand it these guys normally meditate along in caves and such for a decade or more- meditating until they achieve nothing but loving thought or completely in the vibration of love- then they die sitting upright and their bodies are essentially reduced to ashes. .

You are mixing several different things.

The paths (yoga) they choose are not all meditation.
However, most Tibetan philosophy centers around giving up attachments to the world. This means giving up the attachment to pleasure too.

There are enough "cave dwellers" to keep the stereotype alive, but most live in huts on the edge of a village.

There are many stories of rinpoches being in two places at the same time. I have known several of them.

No I'm not mixed up- I'm am speaking of those specifically who have achieved Light Body and the process behind that- of course there are variations of where they live and specific practices but I was addressing that ascension process on the macro level. I wasn't seeking a debate nor do I claim to be an expert on the topic- I merely pointed it out in case you hadn't heard of it before because your comment lead me to believe it might interest you if you hadn't.

Do you believe in reincarnation of any sort? I found Dr. Michel Newton's work/books to be fascinating and I found him to be credible- may want to check out this series of 5 videos he did long ago........

I hate it when I put text and a pic and video in a comment yet when I click post the text disappears???? Not sure if you think reincarnation altogether is bunk but you may find these five short videos by Dr. Michael Newton- I found him to be credible and his work fascinating.

It is a problem with markdown.
With HTML you have opening and closing tags.
markdown doesn't. It relies a lot on carriage-returns. And it can get thrown off if you mix markdown and HTML. I suggest using all HTML.
Or, learn the full format for markdown.

Or, use a < br / > tag in between

I neither believe nor disbelieve... I haven't given it much thought or research. Like UFO's... I've never seen one, but that doesn't mean they aren't real.
