Superheroes have become the talk-of-the-town in recent years. We can hardly go one year without a single superhero movie and even the most obscure c-list superheroes from Marvel and DC can become famous with the right movie or TV show. So, why not celebrate the superhero's rise to pop culture dominance by going over their history and what makes these heroes so cool. In these entries, I'm going to talk about different obscure superheroes and their origins- both real and fictional.
The first superhero I'm starting with is The Whizzer. This golden age superhero first appeared in comics published by Timely Comics- the precursor to Marvel Comics. He was created by Alfred Dean Avison and an unnamed writer whose identity remains a mystery to this day. The Whizzer first appeared in USA Comics #1 on August 1941. He starred in solo adventures up until 1946, when he was made part of the superhero team called the All-Winners Squad during his final two appearances. This would be the Whizzer's last appearance until the 1970s...
And that is as far as I'm willing to go into the Whizzer for now, but I will continue the character's tale on a later date...
