This Historic photo shows NASA Astronaut Alan B. Shepard on this earth date (Feb 06) back in 1971 using a 6-iron that he had brought in secret inside his spacecraft and used to swing at three golf balls on the surface of the moon.

Shepard went on to donate the club to the United States Golf Association Museum in 1974 in New Jersey. If you visit Washington, D.C. you can see a replica at the Smithsonian. After he retired from the space program he went on to lived in a home overlooking Cypress Point in Pebble Beach, California. He died in 1998. To this date he has been the only person to have ever golfed on the moon's surface.
