Hello dear steemians, hope we all are doing great.
A catchment area is simply an area where water is been collected by natural landscape .water from our natural landscape helps us in suppling water for our needs like building of dams and tapping into ground water.
The planting of trees around water catchment areas serves as shelters from direct sunrays i.e reducing the rate of evaporation that may lead to water shortages.
Trees planting in this area helps to binned the soil together through its roots to avoid soil erosion that can cause the collapse of the catchment .

We also plant water retain trees such as acasia to increase the volume of water in the dry season .Trees serves as natural sponges ,collecting and infiltrating rainfall and releasing it slowly into streams and are the most effective landcover for maintenance of water quality.
