For several years, the virgin vine of my neighbor has invaded my walls. It makes my balcony look like a jungle to my delight. Some years a stray insect trots along the walls of my kitchen. This debonair insect is a weevil, the black vine weevil. Native to northern Europe, the black vine weevil is also present here.
The adults make characteristic notches on the edge of the leaves. But more damage can be caused by feeding the larvae below the soil surface.
