Oxythyrea funesta - Mediterranean spotted chafer

in hive-101587 •  5 years ago

A real pest. It feeds on flower parts of all fruit species, as well as on weeds. It damages the flowers so that the fruit does not form at all. Hope you don't see it in the orchard. I had a really bad experience with it. One way of protection is a trap in the form of a blue or white bucket (allegedly it is attracted by white and blue color) filled with water with the addition of anise or strawberry essence.
