So many outstanding vaulters who almost became world champions.

The dfference between vault and the other events is that it's not necessarily about the best vaulter who is very good at just one vault but about the best gymnast who is able to do two vaults from two dfferent groups and perform both very well.

In pevious years, until 2012, gymnasts who did the Amanar vault, a 2.5 twisting Yurchenko, had a huge advantage (0.7 points at some stage) over the double twisting Yurchenko. This was considered unfair as it favored gymnasts who were very good at vaul over other events in the all around competition.

Thankfully, the FIG (International Gymnastics Fedration) lowering the difficulty value of certain vaults and making sure that, for example, for Yurchenko vault, adding an extra 1/2 turn, just added 0.4 points in difficulty, so by the ems of 2021, a single twisting Yurchenko was worth 4.6 in difficulty value, a 1.5 twisting Yurchenko was 5, a double twisting Yurchenko was 5.4, an the 2.5 twisting Yurchenko was 5.8.

If those changes had been implemented earlier, maybe some of the gymnasts on this video might ended up being world vault champions, but we will never know.
