Apprenticeship is a process that combines on-the-job training and lettered classroom instruction under the supervision of a skilled person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. According to the international labor organization, the expression "apprenticeship'' means any system by which an employer undertakes by contract to employ a young person and to train him or her or give him or her trained systematically for a. the duration of which has been fixed in advance and in the course of which The apprentice is bound to work in the employer's service". This definition can be classified as a former apprenticeship.
On the other hand, there is room for an informal apprenticeship. To pass on skills from one generation to the next, poor societies have developed informal apprenticeship systems that are purely workplace-based. A young apprentice learns by way of observation and imitation from an experienced master or craftsperson, acquired the skills of the trade, and is inducted into the culture and networks of the business. Apprenticeship agreements are mostly oral, yes they are embedded in the society's customs, norms, and traditions.
A school-based apprenticeship is a great career option, allowing students to commence part-time training for vocational and technical skills. Although a school-based apprenticeship program may not translate directly into a job it can expose the students to learn practical skills that they could not forget at school which would likely increase their employability and keeps their eyes is on their future goals. The interested students can be guided in choosing a particular location in any area of strength and be trained. For instance, if the student has the passion or talents to become a civil engineer, he or she can be attached to a construction company. The training could be done on weekends, evenings, summer holidays, or on a special release from school if the timetable will permit such.
Apart from the in-school apprenticeship program, secondary school leavers can also decide to engage in an apprenticeship program before commencing their university education. By doing post-secondary apprenticeship training, the students prepared for a particular occupation or career in which he or she intends to in future in the university. this will go a long way not only in building the skills of the students but also in giving the students practice experience and responsibility of what is expected in his or her future career choice. Students are encouraged to think about what career path will best suit them and find an employer who is willing to take them as apprentices. On the other hand, if it is part of the school learning process; the school management can arrange for the students' workplace that suits her apprenticeship dreams.
I think they can and should. Instead of just studying text books and facing exams, students must be refered to learn art, crafts , skills, vocation training or part time jobs as you mentioned according to new labour market trends.
That will help studens to gain new life experiences, skills and to find their passion. Finland is already on a misson of making a new educational policy combined more with real life.
