The Technical Director of Death Stranding says they will consider a PS5 version
Death Stranding has already reached the PC, opening up to a new audience. The game was originally released, to be more specific at the end of last year on PS4, bringing one of the most controversial experiences ever seen in the world of video games. Coincidentally, we are now on the verge of the next generation, with a new Sony system due for release later this year. Could 'Death Stranding' be reversed for PS5 or is that an odyssey?
Death Stranding could come to PS5 somehow
In an interview with Eurogamer, Technical Director Akio Sakamoto spoke about the recently released version of the system for the compatible system. During the interview, he was asked about the future of the game, specifically whether a PS5 version would come out and whether they had anything planned with that system, to which Sakamoto-san said that at this point the study was focused on the PC version, but when that period was over and they had some time, they might look at ways of bringing the 'Death Stranding' experience to the next generation.
"At this point, we're completely focused on the PC version of Death Stranding, so we can't really say anything about the PS5 version. But once we can get some air on the PC version, we'd like to look at it further and hope to be able to communicate that openly once we make the decision."
While nothing has been officially announced, it is assumed that the game will be compatible, thanks to backward compatibility, with PS5, so it would be strange if we could at least not play our copy of PS4 on the new generation. But certainly, a port taking advantage of the machine's specifications or even a remaster could bring the PC experience to the PS5 system in computational terms, or at least we are convinced that it would help to look and play better than a simple patch. In any case, whether for PC or PS4, the game can be enjoyed on those systems today.
