What do you think? - God of War director Cory Barlog says "games should go up in price"
The creative director of 'God of War', Cory Barlog, has joined the debate on game prices. Over the past few days, we've been watching a debate bordering on the issue of whether or not next-generation games should go up in price. Some publishers have already expressed an interest in making this move, while others have not yet done so and some even suggest that updates to the games should be free, like Microsoft's Smart Delivery program. The fact is that there are already a few who suggest that the price of the games should go up due to the increase in cost in their development, and you know the saying; when the river sounds, water comes along.
On Wednesday, through his personal twitter account, Santa Monica game designer Cory Barlog said he thought the price of games needed to go up.
He added, "I prefer an initial price increase for games rather than the microtransaction system that floods some games."
Barlog's comments follow the trend that the triple-A games to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X could face a price increase. Just this month, 2K revealed that the next-generation version of 'NBA 2K21' would suffer a significant increase compared to the current generation versions.
The decision on whether or not a game should go up is still up to the players
In any case, from here we already warn that perhaps the increase in games may come to increase because of the high cost of development, but as usual, the excuse is given of micro-payments and DLC, when we all know that even if the games increase in price, they will not disappear. So it's up to all of us to decide what games should cost. In the end, it's the user who decides how much to pay for a game, whether it's a new generation game or not, and it's the publisher's job to make it attractive, or not so that we decide to spend that money. There's that.
