Assalamu'alaikum all Steemit friends, hopefully always in good health and fine in carrying out daily activities. On this occasion I would like to take part in a learning challenge with a very interesting topic held by Mrs. @ashkhan as our teacher in this competency. The topic is Steemit Learning Challenge-S21W6; “Disc Herniation”. So I will make good use of this opportunity, and now I will answer some of the questions below given by our teacher.

1.What is disc herniation? Write it down in your own words after gaining knowledge from the lesson post.

Disc herniation is a change in the condition of the soft and spongy spinal cushion or disc where it has shifted or we can say that it has been damaged so that it comes out in layers from its basic place harder. This can occur due to several factors experienced by the spine, sometimes it occurs due to the growth process, where increasing age weakens the spine and makes it more vulnerable to herniation, injury, and when applying excessive pressure or lifting weights with the wrong body style resulting in injury.

There are many symptoms that occur with a herniated disc, it all depends on the site and severity. If the damaged vertebrae continue to press on nearby nerves, then we can feel it around the back or neck and other places around it that will be affected by the nerves.

2.How is a herniated disc diagnosed? Is there a clinical examination or assessment test?

In diagnosing herniation symptoms, the doctor will certainly ask for a clear related story from the patient, which can start with the question of when the pain first appeared, then continue that whether there are symptoms of tingling or weakness. Examinations like this are carried out by medical personnel with the aim of knowing what is happening to the patient, after everything is known, medical personnel will carry out a physical examination of the patient such as telling the patient to lift the leg in a lying condition. If at that time there is pain or pain, it can be ascertained that the nerve is depressed. Furthermore, medical personnel will check muscle strength, reflexes and skin sensation in order to ensure that everything is still functioning normally.

Should the medical staff require further investigation, they will of course ask the patient to proceed to the imaging test. The best choice is MRI, the reason is that it can provide in-depth photos of the spinal discs and their surroundings. Thus medical personnel can determine the severity of the patient's condition. If the MRI method does not get maximum results, then the medical staff checks with other tests, such as CT scans, X-rays or so on whose purpose is to complete the picture. This stage is carried out in order to prove that the diagnosis used is truly accurate, and treatment can be carried out as well as possible according to the president's needs.

3.Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share a picture, gif, or video of you practicing, preferably a gif or video.

Hip Bridging Exercise
When I practiced this first exercise, I first provided a clean and comfortable place so that the exercise process would run smoothly. Next, I just sleep on my back and lift my knees, then lift my thighs and body simultaneously and tuck my hands on my shoulders as in the following video:

William Flexion ( knee to chest stretch)
To do this practice, first I take a lying position, then my hands hold one of the legs that I bend at the knee. Then I put the knee to the chest while holding it for a count of seconds. Here is the video:

Sciatic Nerve Glides
In practicing this type of exercise, the first step is again taking a lying position. Next, I immediately bend the knees of my legs, then one of my legs is lifted straight up with the help of the power of two hands. This is done repeatedly up to four times. Here is the video:

4.Share your reviews after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individuals, or patients.

a. Hip Bridging Exercise
At first after doing this Hip Bridging Exercise, I felt a little sore at the back of my body, which is only natural because it was my first time doing it. But after repeating a few times, the body feels more relieved, even if it has not been done for a long time it feels like wanting to be repeated. So the exercise seems suitable to be done as a routine every day.

b. William Flexion ( knee to chest stretch)
This is almost the same as the previous exercise, but because of this exercise I found it easier than the previous one. Although it felt a little tight at first, when repeated two to three times and so on it was very easy. I felt a release of stiffness, especially in the thighs and chest and hip areas.

c. Sciatic Nerve Glides
After practicing this exercise, I felt relieved. Indeed, every exercise when doing the first is hard, especially the matter of lifting the legs. In fact, I was not used to lifting my legs, so it made my legs tremble at first. When I repeated it several times, I felt good and relieved at the back of my knees. The thighs also felt better than not doing it at all. So this exercise is suitable to be done on a regular basis.

I think this is a great and interesting training competition. In this challenge I have practiced three exercises which made my body feel more relieved and become more energetic when doing activities. Here I also invite Mr. @irawandedy, Mr. @adeljose, Mr. @pelon53, Mr. @walictd and Mr. @muzack1 to participate in this challenge.

Thank you very much for stopping by my post.
Greetings @cymolan

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.

Observations

Task 1 (2.6/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about disc herniation, its symptoms, and and causes, but didn't add its types. A bit more depth require to complete the answer. I appreciate your effort.

Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing investigations and didn't add special tests. It would be better if you add name and explanation of one special test of each region to assess the disc herniation. Great.

Task 3 (3.7/4)
You try the hip bridging, William Flexion and sciatic nerve glides exercises . You did the hip bridging, William Flexion correctly. But in sciatic nerve glides you have to dosriflex your feet while performing this. Always remember to apply heat pack before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.

Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from disc herniation or any type of back pain. Thank you.
